Yep. I do think there will be changes at the margins, and for people involved in the organization those changes are important. Membership should increase. I'm not sure about donations, corporate or otherwise. Jealous doesn't have those types of credentials. But for us? The face changes but the game stays the same.

When Kweisi Mfume resigned I wrote this in response, noting three central flaws: the NAACP focuses on political rights rather than expanding economic rights, it is highly centralized with a bloated executive board, and it is largely an organization of middle and upper-income African Americans. How do any of these things change with the appointment of a leader like Jealous, as opposed to anyone else?

Answer: They Don't! The NAACP is a big tree with many branches. The Trees roots have been in decay for over 30 years. No one has been concerned about the roots, and many members are happy with many of the branches that seem to spring up with new leaves. For the average NAACP member who goes to the annual convention things look fine. For the black poor who have been stuck in the dirt, hoping the NAACP would see he need to take care of its roots in decay, many are not hopeful that the young man has the required experience needed to reform this type of organization with root problems. The NAACP needs a surgeon who understands how to address structural change within national organizations. I'm not sure they have one.
